  • REGISTRATION FOR SBANT FAMILY CAMP WEEKEND

CAMP JOHN MARC - MERIDIAN, TEXAS

    NOVEMBER 15-17, 2024

For children with Spina Bifida ages 10 and under - and their immediate families

It is almost time for the SBANT 2024 Family Camp at Camp John Marc!  Fall Family Camp is open to SBANT families who have a child with Spina Bifida, age 10 or younger as of 11/17/24.   Should the available slots not be filled up, we will then open up registrations to increase the age to 12.  Camp John Marc offers an incredible facility in Meridian, Texas that you can see at www.campjohnmarc.org. This is the same location where Camp TLC is held each June for Spina Bifida campers 9-16 years old. Therefore, Family Camp can also serve as a good introduction to the location for the future Camp TLC camper.   Families will enjoy a fun weekend full of activities with other Spina Bifida families.  The weekend begins on Friday at 5:00pm and runs through breakfast on Sunday morning.  Campers are provided with all meals Friday evening through Sunday morning.  Activities include making s'mores around a campfire with camp songs, deer sightings, arts & crafts, fishing, ropes course & zip line, games, archery, party night activities, and of course bonding with your fellow SB families.  Each family has their own cabin that has A/C/heat, showers and bathroom.   The cabins include 10 twin beds and a large bathroom area with 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 sinks. Lodges are also available that have 4 beds, a living room and kitchenette.  The lodges are further from activities and will be reserved primarily for those who need refrigerator access for infants and who do not mind the extra distance.  No linens are provided – please bring sheets, pillows, towels,blankets/sleeping bags, etc. All cabins have heating and air conditioning.    Microwaves are available in the dining hall to use at any time, as well as an ice machine. Coolers are recommended for personal use. Meals will be provided for Friday night, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast. Vegetarian meals are available.  If you need a gluten-free diet or anything specific, there is room in the kitchen to store your food.  The numbers of cabins available are limited to 23 and priority is given to new families in order to give everyone a chance to visit this wonderful camp!  Once all slots are full, a waiting list will be established.

Camp fee per family is $125 for a Family of 6 Members (Mother /Father / SB child/ 3 siblings). Additional siblings that are minor children in the immediate family cost an additional $40 per person.  Additional adults attending cost $95 per person. (A limited number of scholarships are available.  Contact Robin regarding scholarships).  Please understand that SBANT's cost to run camp is much greater than these fees.

Applications are due by October 31, 2024.

All Cancellations made prior to October 31, 2024  will be eligible for a full refund.  All cancellations made after October 31, 2024 including

no-shows to camp, will be NON-REFUNDABLE. If you are unable to attend, please notify Robin ASAP so your family’s spot may be given to a family on the waiting list.

A map to camp and a list of packing items will be sent to all registered families.  Following the map is better than using google or other maps as they don't work well out at camp.  A gate code will also be sent prior to camp along with the map.

Spina Bifida Association of North Texas logo
In Support of Spina Bifida Association of North Texas
Founded in 1973, the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas (SBANT) began as a small support group of parents under the name SBA Dallas. Over the years, the service area expanded to encompass all of North Texas and beyond—from the DFW area, to Central Texas, to the Panhandle and out to El Paso! SBANT volunteers work year-round to provide services, outreach, education, referrals, and programs.   SBANT also partners with other non-profit disability groups and companies to give our constituents a range of accessible activities and programs.  Our goal is to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and to give children, families and adults the tools that they need to be advocates for themselves, independent and active individuals with Spina Bifida and to have a strong, supportive community.    Our mission is to build a better and brighter future for all those impacted by Spina Bifida.
